Our Osteopathic Approach to Treating the Upper Limb
Treatment of pain and dysfunction in the shoulder, arm, wrist and hand
Pain in the hands, wrist, arm or shoulders will often be more than just a localised injury. The appropriate functioning of a simple arm movement requires a whole body co-ordination. Break down of this whole body integration can result in over use of certain structures, predisposing an individual to injury. We aim to diagnose and treat the cause of any upper limb pain. Some common causes of upper limb pain are:
- tennis elbow
- golfer’s elbow
- radial head ligament sprains
- ulnar nerve entrapment
- rotator cuff tears or sprains
- tendonitis / tendonosis
- shoulder impingement
- bursitis
- frozen shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
- postural tension
- referred pain
- osteoarthritis
- repetitive strain injury (RSI), occupation overuse syndrome (OOS)
- carple tunnel syndrome
